Minnesota Online and the Military Student Military members can take an array of college courses online from Minnesota State Colleges and Universities offering online courses and programs through Minnesota Online. A wide range of full programs, program specific courses, and a variety of general education courses are offered online. Minnesota Online offers thousands of online credit and no-credit courses and more than 150 degree, certificate, and diploma program options. All of the degrees offered at Minnesota State Colleges and Universities and through Minnesota Online are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. 28 of the 32 Minnesota State Colleges and Universities are Service Members Opportunities Colleges (SOCs). The SOC association of schools agree to work together to make it easier for you and your family members to enroll in college programs by simplifying credit transfers and reducing residency requirements (the credits required to earn a degree at a given school). In addition, SOC schools normally offer distance learning programs, as well as degree programs and individual courses. Many of the lower-division courses offered in Minnesota Online are part of the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) and will transfer to any of the 32 Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. The University of Minnesota also recognizes the MnTC as fulfilling the lower division general education component of its degree programs when all ten transfer curriculum goal area are completed. Private and out-of-state colleges and universities will usually accept MnTC courses in transfer on a course-by-course basis.
